Broncos Re-Sign WR Tyrie Cleveland to Practice Squad

Roughly 72 hours after being chopped from the active roster, and mere minutes after special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes pined for his return, the Denver Broncos re-signed wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland to the practice squad, the club announced Thursday.

A 2020 seventh-round draft pick, Cleveland has played in 23 career games for the Broncos, tallying 91 scoreless yards on nine receptions. He's made six appearances this season, primarily as a core special-teamer under Stukes.

The Florida alum logged 27 offensive snaps — and was held catchless across three targets — in last Sunday's loss to Tennessee, seeing an uptick in playing time with starting WRs Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and KJ Hamler (hamstring) sidelined by injury.

Cleveland, 25, was subsequently waived Tuesday from the 53-man squad, in a move that head coach Nathaniel Hackett insisted was not reflective of his performance.

"First, it’s about numbers and [General Manager] George [Paton] handles a lot of that stuff," Hackett said. "We needed a spot, and we have a lot of wide receivers. Tyrie has really worked hard. He’s done a good job for us. He’s been really good on special teams and all those things. That’s just part of the business.”

Cleveland becomes the fourth wideout stationed on Denver's practice team, joining Victor Bolden (who put pen to paper Tuesday), Kaden Davis, and Brandon Johnson.
