Broncos GM discusses if Russell Wilson could be traded

It's been assumed for most of the offseason that quarterback Russell Wilson has played his final down in a Denver Broncos uniform.

After two underwhelming, playoff-less seasons in Denver, many experts have said that they expect the one-time Super Bowl champion to be cut before the NFL league year becomes official.

Wilson is due $39M guaranteed in 2024 and if he isn't traded or cut before March 5, a $37M 2025 injury guarantee goes into effect.

Broncos general manager George Paton discussed the future of the former Seattle Seahawks star with reporters on Tuesday, noting that as of now, there are no potential suitors.

Earlier this month during an episode of ESPN's "Get Up," analyst and former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck said that he thinks "there's a chance" that Wilson is "out of football" completely this year.

Wilson has played and started in at least 14 games every season during his career since he debuted in 2012, though he was benched for the final two contests of the 2023 campaign.

Analyst Mike Tannenbaum suggested during an episode of "Get Up" last week that the nine-time Pro Bowler should join the New York Jets to back up four-time MVP signal-caller Aaron Rodgers.

Other teams in need of a new man under center that could pursue Wilson include the Atlanta Falcons.

The 35-year-old has recorded a 63.3 completion percentage for 6,594 passing yards, 42 touchdowns, 19 interceptions and a 90.9 passer rating in two seasons with Denver.

Wilson left Seattle as an all-time great for the franchise, finishing his 10 years there with a 65.0 completion percentage for 37,059 passing yards, 292 touchdowns, 87 interceptions and a 101.8 passer rating while adding 4,689 rushing yards and 23 scores on the ground over 158 regular-season games.
