Bills selection in latest mock draft will get offense 'back on track'

The Bills are arguably in the worst salary cap position in the league heading into 2024 with $40M over the NFL's newly set $255.4 million limit.

That means Buffalo is going to need to build its roster through the 2024 NFL Draft after it somehow finds a way to get under the salary cap, making every selection important.

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks believes the team could use its first-round pick to add to QB Josh Allen's arsenal in his latest mock draft.

With the No. 28 overall pick, Brooks thinks the Bills will select Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman.

"Putting fresh weaponry around Josh Allen could help the Bills' offense get back on track in 2024," Brooks writes.

Coleman could do exactly that as he has been impressive over the last two years, posting 108 catches for 1,456 yards and 18 touchdowns at two different schools (FSU and MSU).

As a result, the 20-year-old currently ranks as Pro Football Focus' eighth-best wide receiver and No. 39 overall prospect on its big board. He could continue to rise draft boards at the NFL Scouting Combine, which takes place this week in Indianapolis, as well.

Adding another playmaker like Coleman also makes a lot of sense for Buffalo because of its clear lack of funds to re-sign pending free-agent wide receivers Gabriel Davis and Trent Sherfield this offseason.

The Bills still have wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Khalil Shakir and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox under contract for next season. However, finding a true No. 2 wide receiver to pair with Diggs is a must with Davis likely heading elsewhere in free agency.

If Coleman's play can translate to the next level, he and Diggs could create one of the better duos in the league for years to come while helping Buffalo's offense, which was sometimes painful to watch in 2023, return to dominance.
