Best Non-QB Eagles of This Century; RB Brian Westbrook Snubbed?

Because of some of his critiques of quarterback Jalen Hurts, Chris Simms hasn't exactly endeared himself to Philadelphia Eagles fans in recent years. However, the former NFL quarterback and current NBC analyst recently unveiled a ranking that Eagles fans are more likely to enjoy. 

Along with co-host Ahmed Fareed, Simms ranked the best non-quarterback players of the century for each franchise. While some teams were only given five representatives, the Eagles have had so much success since 2000 that Simms settled on six Eagles: 

- S Brian Dawkins: The first four seasons of Dawkins' career came in the 1990s, but even with those excluded, "Weapon X" still made seven Pro Bowl appearances and was a First-Team All-Pro four times during this century. He was on the Hall of Fame's All-2000s Team, and was inducted into Canton in 2018. 

- LT Jason Peters: Peters played for the Eagles from 2009-2020, and was an immovable object on the blindside for a large portion of those 11 seasons. He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2011 and 2013, made seven Pro Bowl appearances as an Eagle and was elected to the Hall of Fame's All-2010s team. Peters was still active last season, but he's likely to one day be elected to the Hall of Fame. 

- RB LeSean McCoy: A second-round pick out of Pitt in 2009, McCoy ran for 6,792 yards in six seasons with the Eagles, becoming the franchise's all-time leading rusher. "Shady" was a First-Team All-Pro in 2011 and 2013, and finished second to Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning in Offensive Player of the Year Award voting in the latter year. 

- C Jason Kelce: The story is still being written for one of the greatest centers in NFL history, but Kelce increasingly feels like someone who has a legitimate Hall of Fame case. One of the greatest athletes to ever play his position, Kelce is a five-time First-Team All-Pro. 

- DT Fletcher Cox: One of the greatest defensive players in franchise history, Cox is preparing for his 12th season with the Eagles. The former first-round pick was a First-Team All-Pro in 2018, and has been a Second-Team selection on three other occasions. 

- RT Lane Johnson: The Eagles used the No. 4 overall pick on Johnson in the 2013 NFL Draft and haven't had to think about the right tackle position since. A two-time First-Team All-Pro, Johnson hasn't allowed a sack since the 2020 season.

Other names who were considered running back Brian Westbrook and receiver DeSean Jackson. Simms also mentioned kicker David Akers as someone who crossed his mind. But while each of that trio had excellent runs with the Eagles, in our opinion, the six names selected were the correct ones.
