Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase has perfect response to 'spicy' Seahawks comments

On Thursday, days before their Week 6 matchup, friendly trash talk commenced between the Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals involving star wideouts DK Metcalf and Ja'Marr Chase.

Metcalf stated that his teammate, DB Devon Witherspoon, would "get the best" of Chase. Upon hearing Metcalf's words, Chase had the perfect response.

"He ain't doing nothing but praising his teammate, though," Chase said via James Rapien of Locked on Bengals. "That's what he's supposed to do."

Chase did caution the Seahawks to be careful what they wish for, displaying confidence in his abilities.

"At the end of the day, it's about game-time reps and game-time decisions," Chase said. "So, he gonna get the opportunity to get his matchups and just see who wins that matchup."

Chase deflected any beef, saying that Metcalf and company were simply "spicing up the game." However, he's clearly using the back and forth, as innocent as it might be, as motivation. Not only did Chase repost the video of Metcalf's comments, but he told reporters they would give him and the Bengals "more energy" heading into Sunday.

Regardless of the intent from Metcalf, it might not be wise to give Chase any extra motivation. Much like his quarterback, Joe Burrow, Chase is beginning to heat up after a slow start out of the gates. After recording only 10 catches for 70 yards through Weeks 1 and 2, Chase has 34 receptions for 406 yards and three touchdowns over the last three games.

The third-year wideout ranks second in the NFL in receptions (44) and yards after catch (234). Meanwhile, he's also coming off a career day, catching 15 of 19 targets for 192 yards and three scores in a 34-20 Bengals win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.
