Bears head coach Matt Nagy: 'Time is now' for Chicago offense

Even with two playoff appearances in the last three seasons, many experts are still critical of how little head coach Matt Nagy has transformed the Chicago Bears offense. But as Nagy revealed in a recent interview, the plan is for all of that to change this season. 

“I think what we've put together — (general manager) Ryan Pace has done such an amazing job of building the last three years — this roster that we have, we have a lot of depth,” Nagy said in an interview with the Under Center Podcast, per NBC Sports Chicago. “And so now, to be able to have the time to put together, we feel like we're going to have a great opportunity offensively to do what we need to do. The time is now, we know that and we're looking forward to it."

Chicago is notably getting a boost on offense going into their 2021 campaign with a revamped quarterback corps consisting of 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields and veteran Andy Dalton, who they signed to a one-year deal in March. The hope now is that the two QBs will have a healthier offensive arsenal to work with than they did last season.

Nagy added that having more of a normal routine post-pandemic should help the entire team be better.

“I think we get back to a little bit of normalcy this year with fans and with the players and the rules that they have,” Nagy explained. “Then, I think most importantly, too, is we feed— the coaches and players— feed off of fans in those stadiums. So to be able to have everybody back just brings a little bit more out of you.”
