Bears DE Trevis Gipson guarantees Week 2 win over Packers

The Chicago Bears appear to have a bit of arrogance after an upset win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. The Bears and Green Bay Packers will play each other on "Sunday Night Football." Their recent rivalry has been so one-sided that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has bragged he owns the Bears.

The Packers had their share of struggles in Week 1 against the Vikings. The team’s offense was sluggish for most of the game. The Packers, who had to battle the Vikings with multiple injuries, might field a stronger team against the Bears than the depleted one they had last week.

Based on last week’s game film, the Bears might have dismissed the Packers’ chances of winning Sunday night. Per John Dietz of the Daily Herald, Bears defensive end Trevis Gipson made a bold prediction about the outcome between the Packers and Bears. Gipson told reporters the Bears were going to win because the team’s coaching staff said they were better.

Shots fired.

After those comments, Gipson had better come on stronger against the Packers Sunday than he did against the 49ers in Week 1. Gipson came off the bench to record three tackles for the Bears. Those were shocking statements from a non-Bears starter.

Gipson’s comments are sure to light a fire under a frustrated Packers group looking for redemption. Rodgers will be licking his chops for any opportunity to make Gipson look foolish on defense this weekend. The Packers should have more talent than the Bears Sunday night. If they don’t, the Packers’ season is in serious trouble. The Packers have the extra motivation of not wanting to start the season with their backs to the wall at 0-2.

They could easily make Gipson eat his words.
