All-Pro TE George Kittle trusts 49ers to pick right QB

San Francisco 49ers All-Pro tight end George Kittle has campaigned for Jimmy Garoppolo to remain his starting quarterback on multiple occasions over the past several months but can also see the writing on the wall. The 49ers traded to acquire the third overall pick of the NFL Draft and, per most mock drafts, will use that asset to choose Garoppolo's eventual replacement.

While appearing on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" on Wednesday, Kittle backed head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch to get this vital decision right.

"Jimmy's our quarterback, he has been, he's led us to a bunch of wins, we haven't won without him, his record speaks for itself," Kittle said, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "So like I said (previously), Kyle and John are doing whatever they can to make this team compete for a Super Bowl, and if they think it's bringing another quarterback, another tight end, another fullback, another linebacker, whatever it is, they're just trying to make this team better and more competitive and so I know the team trusts in them because they haven't led us astray yet."

Shanahan raised eyes on Monday when he said he "can’t guarantee that anybody in the world will be alive on Sunday, so I can’t guarantee who will be on our roster on Sunday," when asked about Garoppolo's status with the 49ers through the draft's completion.

Four CBS Sports analysts and handfuls of others are all predicting the 49ers will select a quarterback with pick No. 3 Thursday night.
