Alabama QB Bryce Young meets with Texans at NFL Scouting Combine

The Houston Texans met with potential No. 2 overall draft pick Bryce Young at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC Houston

Young, who became the first Alabama QB to win the Heisman Trophy, is projected to be a top five pick in the NFL Draft on April 27.

The 21-year-old was a two-year starter under Nick Saban.

Despite concerns about his size (6-0, 195 pounds), Young is an electric playmaker. He threw for 8,356 yards and 80 touchdowns at Alabama.

Since hiring head coach DeMeco Ryans in January, the Texans have focused on rebuilding. Several changes have been made to their coaching staff, and major changes are expected with their roster.

Houston is expected to select a quarterback early in the draft as its struggling offense desperately needs a dynamic playmaker.

During the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, reporters asked Ryans --who also attended Alabama -- about Young.

“I know Bryce [Young] is an outstanding leader," Ryans said.

The 2022 Texans offense was among the worst in the NFL. It ranked 31st in yards per game (283.5) and scoring (17).

Houston hasn't made a playoff appearance since the 2019 season. Young could be the player the Texans need to turn their struggling team into a Super Bowl contender.
