AJ Dillon praises Jordan Love's leadership

Fans of the Green Bay Packers may have plenty of questions regarding the talent and readiness of 2023 starting quarterback Jordan Love.

Indeed, fans and national analysts have, for the most part, predicted that the Packers will be awful in 2023 and that Love’s play will be a huge reason why. However, Love’s teammates, and at least one Hall of Fame quarterback, believe that the future in Green Bay is bright with the 2020 NFL Draft first-round pick under center.

Several of those teammates have been outspoken about their confidence in Love. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs said there is nothing Aaron Rodgers could do that Love can’t do. Aaron Jones and Christian Watson have both said on separate occasions that they, and the team, have all the confidence in the world in him. Recently, running back AJ Dillon talked with Wes Hokdiewicz of the Packers website and to about Love.

Love and Dillon were drafted at a difficult time in the country’s history. The COVID-19 pandemic shut down almost everything, including professional sports. As a result, they did not get the plethora of rookie workouts and interaction that most rookies get. In his interview with Hodkiewicz, Dillon said that they bonded over Pokémon and sports cards. Even though they had virtual training camps and no preseason, they were able to become close.

Due to their shared bond of coming to Green Bay at the weirdest time to become a NFL player, and their shared interests, the two are big fans of each other.

“Aside from a teammate, I’m a big fan of his. I want him to be great. I want him to go out there and do everything he’s ever dreamt of, and he can. He’s been a great leader for us throughout these OTAs. He’s been here since April, before we were even able to throw around the football and we were just running, running through drills.

Everybody respects him. Everybody is listening when he’s talking and it’s really cool.

I always tell him, I have no problem with you going out there and winning a couple MVPs and some Super Bowls. Yeah, go ahead, dude. Do what you need to do.”

Of course, no teammate is going to come out and say that they are concerned about their starting quarterback’s abilities. That being said, the comments that Dillon and the other players have made are not superficial or forced. They genuinely believe that Love can and will be a great starting quarterback for the Packers.
