AFC team reportedly considering Justin Fields trade

The Justin Fields trade saga is anything but finished at this point, despite the Atlanta Falcons landing Kirk Cousins on a massive deal and the Pittsburgh Steelers expected to add Russell Wilson to the roster. These two teams were considered serious candidates to acquire Fields and now are off the board for the young quarterback.

That said, another team could make a surprise run for the former No. 11 overall pick in the NFL Draft. According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the Las Vegas Raiders are "kicking the tires" on a potential trade for Fields.

Tafur notes that Fields could reunite with former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who joined the Raiders after Kliff Kingsbury changed his decision and joined the Washington Commanders instead.

Following an interesting season with the Bears, Fields finds himself in a complex situation. Chicago can either trade this year's No. 1 overall pick and keep building around Fields or trade the 25-year-old signal-caller and focus all their attention on Caleb Williams.

The Bears have had a strong start to free agency, landing former Eagles running back D'Andre Swift.

The Raiders have also made some intriguing moves, agreeing to deals with D-lineman Christian Wilkins on a four-year deal and notable quarterback Gardner Minshew on a two-year deal.

Las Vegas is starting a new era under head coach Antonio Pierce. It can make some noise next season if the front office adds the right pieces. Fields would be a solid addition to the Raiders and with the Falcons and Steelers out of the picture, the path to the young playmaker should be clear for Las Vegas.

Aidan O'Connell is still part of the team, so they need to make a decision on who will stay in the quarterback room before the 2024 season starts.
