AFC Team Las Vegas Raiders may trade for two-time Pro Bowler and Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott this offseason. This hypothetical situation could be worth bringing up since Prescott has been in rumors lately that he may be traded. However, the organization and Prescott are confident that a deal will get done. This year’s draft class may intrigue the team to go elsewhere in the future and they could ship Prescott to get something in return.

The source explains that the package deal they may receive from the Raiders could pull America’s team to rebuild and go through with the deal. It’s close to the deal that the Lions got in return for trading Matthew Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff. The mock trade reveals that the Cowboys would get second-year Aidan O’Connell and the No. 13 pick in this year’s draft. There would be more picks that Dallas will receive but that’s up to Jerry Jones and what the organization wants to do.

The Cowboys owner has been pretty vocal this offseason that they split after Prescott’s final contract year is over. Prescott has been consistent with the stats he puts up with the team but it’s not anything close to having them get past the divisional round of the playoffs. Many analysts and speculators are wondering if the team is tanking this year. Dallas has been quiet this offseason with the moves they’re supposed to make to improve their roster.

The only move they’ve made was signing Eric Kendricks. However, there haven’t been any additions on offense other than re-signing a couple of starters. One can speculate that the organization may be doing this to prove that Prescott isn’t the answer.

Is Dallas Done With Their Franchiser?

The implication is that Prescott was consistent throughout the regular season while maintaining excellence with his stat sheet. However, numbers only go so far for Jones and the Cowboys as they’re still in a Super Bowl drought. The team took a chance on the Mississippi State product after releasing their long-time veteran Tony Romo in 2017. Despite being a solid quarterback, Prescott didn’t lead the franchise to a championship.

Prescott enters his last chance with the team and Jones isn’t worried about whether or not a deal will go through. This indicates that the Cowboys could look towards the draft to grab a new potential starter for their franchise. However, the team still has two backups on their roster but none of them have proven to be starters. It all makes sense that Jones made the Trey Lance trade last offseason to boost competition in the locker room.

This indicates that Jones planned to find a new quarterback to take over the team and start new. It could happen in this year’s draft with a potential trade. However, why keep Prescott for one more year if you can beef up more in return?

Prescott’s on the Hot Seat

Since the Cowboys were quiet this free agency, it shouldn’t shock anyone if they pick a quarterback in this year’s draft. However, there’s a chance they could extend Prescott after this year. It doesn’t look to be in Prescott’s favor since most of the team’s key starters left the team. Jones would only send Prescott to a new team if it meant building a completely different NFC Powerhouse this year.
