AFC North rookies who will make the biggest impact in 2023

Now that the NFL Draft is over, teams will conduct rookie mini-camps and then organized team activities (OTAs). Here are four rookies who will likely have the biggest impact in the AFC North:

Baltimore Ravens

Zay Flowers, WR (First round): The offense didn't have a wide receiver eclipse 500 yards in 2022. That should change with Baltimore's new-look receiver room and its newest addition of Flowers, whom the team selected with pick No. 22. The 22-year-old had 78 catches for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022, and Pro Football Focus believes he is the "best pure separator in the draft class."

Flowers has already been compared to All-Pro WR Stefon Diggs of the Bills, which is high praise for a player that hasn't taken his first snap in the league yet. The Boston College product seems to have the talent and confidence, but time will tell if he can back up his words in 2023.

Cincinnati Bengals

D.J. Turner, CB (Second round): You can't teach speed and that's what the Bengals' second-round pick has. Turner ran a 4.26 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, and PFF thinks "his movement and skills are second to none."

However, Turner brings more than just speed to Cincinnati's secondary. He provides some much-needed insurance to a group that includes Chidobe Awuzie, Cam Taylor-Britt and Mike Hilton -- all of whom battled injuries in 2022. If the room gets hit with the injury bug again in 2023, Turner will get a lot of playing time.

Cleveland Browns

Cedric Tillman, WR (Third round): The Browns didn't make their first selection in the 2023 NFL Draft until pick No. 74 in the third round but may have found an impact player in Tillman. The 6-foot-3, 213-pound receiver played in a mere six games in 2022 for Tennessee due to injury but posted 64 catches for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2021.

"Tillman is the most physical receiver in the draft class," PFF writes. 

He joins a somewhat crowded receiver room that includes Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore and Donovan Peoples-Jones; however, he may be able to beat out People-Jones for the third spot.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Broderick Jones, OT (First round): The Steelers have put a ton of focus on rebuilding their offensive line, so they traded up to pick No. 14 to land QB Kenny Pickett's future blindside blocker. Jones, who is only 21, will battle with Dan Moore Jr. for the Steelers' left tackle spot right away, and he may win the job. 

The 6-foot-5, 311-pound offensive lineman didn't allow a sack in 2022 at Georgia, according to PFF, who calls Jones "a bully of an offensive tackle." Jones should improve Pittsburgh's offense in the pass and run game, providing more time for Pickett and creating better running lanes for RB Najee Harris.
