Aaron Rodgers on NFL's concussion protocols: 'I don't know what else the league can do'

The NFL's concussion protocols have come under heavy scrutiny as of late.

After Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a scary head injury in Week 3, only to play the next game, the cries for change in how the league handles concussions only grew louder.

The hot-button issue isn't going away, even with changes to the NFL's protocols likely to come soon. While many believe the NFL can do more to protect its players, others have a difference of opinion, like Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

When asked Friday about the league's concussion issue, the always-outspoken Rodgers said the players have to take more responsibility.

"I don't know what else the league can do," Rodgers said, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "We've got to police ourselves."

It's hard to argue with Rodgers' logic, especially when playing through injury is so engrained in football culture. However, it highlights the more significant point that the league is responsible for protecting players from themselves. Changing how the NFL handles concussions, and possible head injuries would be a positive step forward for all parties involved.
