49ers hire former Raiders OC Mick Lombardi to coaching staff
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers have added former Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi to their coaching staff. However, his specific role within the team has yet to be disclosed.

Mick Lombardi, son of former NFL executive Michael Lombardi, started his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant at Fordham University. He then transitioned to the New England Patriots in 2011, initially serving as a scouting assistant.

During his previous four-season stint (2013-2016) with the 49ers, Lombardi held various roles, including assistant to head coach Jim Harbaugh, offensive and defensive assistant, and offensive quality control coach, working with coaches like Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly.

Following his time with the 49ers, Lombardi joined the New York Jets in 2017 as an offensive assistant. He joined the New England Patriots in 2019, initially assisting the quarterbacks before assuming the role of wide receivers coach for two seasons (2020-2021).

Lombardi spent the past two seasons as the Raiders' offensive coordinator before being dismissed in October alongside head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler in October.
