Watch: Anthony Edwards does $35K penalized WWE celebration after going 3-0 against idol Kevin Durant
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

For someone like Anthony Edwards, just handing a third straight loss in the playoffs to the Phoenix Suns is not enough. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar wanted to inflict further humiliation to his idol Kevin Durant by bringing out a WWE celebration that has been fined by the NBA before.

With roughly 3 minutes left in the game, Anthony Edwards sent a pass up the court for Rudy Gobert to score. That sent the Minnesota Timberwolves up by almost 20 points. A situation from which it was anyway going to be difficult for any team to come back. This is why, Anthony Edwards decided to break out WWE’s D-Generation X celebration. A visual that has gone viral on social media.

Joel Embiid was fined $35,000 for performing that celebration during a game last year. It was nothing but rubbing salt into the wounds of the Phoenix Suns. It also adds to the trash talk he has been dishing out to Kevin Durant and his teammates in this playoff series.

Kevin Durant and his teammates appeared helpless and resigned to defeat. After all, even though the big 3 managed to score 20+ points each, the rest of the team did not contribute. They could not even defend against their younger opponents. It seems Anthony Edwards and his teammates are en route to the 2nd round.

During the middle of the regular season, many fans and analysts were skeptical about the Minnesota Timberwolves. They thought the team was not good enough to stay at the top of the Western Conference. Fast forward to this day, and those same fans and analysts acknowledged that the Timberwolves mean business.

The coaching staff has done an excellent job with the Minnesota Timberwolves, ensuring they play the game the right way. Be it scoring opportunities, rebounding, defense, or game management, they perform all duties impeccably. It was particularly evident in the month when Karl-Anthony Towns and Gobert missed games.

Now in the playoffs, it is all the more evident. After all, which team takes the fight against 3 bonafide superstars and dominates them every time? The NBA playoffs 2nd round beckons them.
