Tyler Herro throws shade at the Trail Blazers

After being floated in trade rumors all summer, Tyler Herro remains with the Miami Heat. Herro was widely expected to headline a potential trade for Damian Lillard. However, the former Sixth Man of the Year has been overlooked recently.

When speaking to the media on Monday, Herro had a warning for the rest of the NBA. The fifth-year guard also took the opportunity to throw some shade at the Trail Blazers.

"I'm not gonna say too much," Herro said. "I know my value. I'm just excited to hoop. For the teams that didn't want me, that's on you. For the teams that do want me, you'll see why you want me ... I'm ready to play the best. Portland ain't the best, so I'm not worried about Portland."

Herro, 23, has already enjoyed significant success in his career. The 6-foot-5 guard is a high-level ball-handler and secondary playmaker. He is also a reliable three-level scorer who can lead an offense when required. Herro would be a core rotation player for multiple rebuilding teams around the NBA.

Nevertheless, it would appear that Miami's playoff success last season, where Herro was injured for the majority of their run to the finals, has skewed the perception of his value.

Unless the Heat enters trade discussions for another star, Herro will likely remain with the franchise for the upcoming season. As such, Herro will need to put the last few months behind him and lock in to the task at hand.

The Eastern Conference has gotten stronger at the top. The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics both project to championship contenders.

Miami has their work cut out for them. Herro will be vital to his team's chances of success. Knowing that, while also knowing he was almost traded, will be a bittersweet pill to swallow.
