In a not-surprising move, the Milwaukee Bucks have picked up the team’s third-year option on MarJon Beauchamp. The decision involving the sophomore’s team option for the 2024-25 season was reported by Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
The move was somewhat expected as Beauchamp showed a lot of promise in his first season with the Bucks. Selected by Milwaukee as the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Beauchamp played 52 games in his rookie season and averaged 5.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks a game.
While the numbers in his rookie season may not be that impressive, it looks like Beauchamp has already cemented his place in the Bucks roster with his increased playing minutes this season.
The 22-year-old forward was utilized for 13.5 minutes last year, but his playing time is up to 16.5 minutes per game early on in the season. Beauchamp has played two games this season, averaging 6.0 points and 1.5 rebounds a game.
Most people see Beauchamp as someone who could provide the Bucks the needed athleticism.
With Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo expected to command multiple defenders on a nightly basis, the Bucks need someone in off-ball plays, a player who could find open spaces and has the athleticism to make strong drives to the basket.
Beauchamp is certainly the player who could provide just that. That’s why picking up the team option on one of the league’s promising players was an easy decision to make.
