Suns Insider Shuts Down Interest in Player
Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns will not be pursuing upcoming free agent center Mike Muscala, according to Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro.

Muscala is reportedly finalzing a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons in order for him to join a playoff contender ahead of the postseason.

Forbes' Evan Sidery initially suggested Muscala could join the Suns as Phoenix was a team to watch.

"The Suns are one team to monitor here. Phoenix is in need of a floor-spacing five, which Muscala can provide," he wrote on Twitter/X.

The Suns already have their starting center solidified in Jusuf Nurkic, though many have wanted Phoenix to upgrade from Drew Eubanks after inconsistent play through the 2023-24 season.

Bol Bol is another option for Phoenix head coach Frank Vogel to deploy at center, too.

Muscala - 32-years-old - is on his fourth team since the beginning of the 2022-23 season after previously playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards and now Detroit prior to his potential buy-out. He was acquired by the Pistons at the trade deadline.

As of publish, the Suns are 34-32 and are No. 6 in the Western Conference standings. They're riding high off a Sunday win over the Los Angeles Lakers and are just five games back from the No. 3-seeded Denver Nuggets.
