Sixers’ Danuel House Jr Picking Up Player Option
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

76ers guard/forward Danuel House Jr. intends to exercise his $4.3 million player option and stay with the franchise, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

House, who turns 30 on June 7, appeared in 56 games this past season, averaging 4.8 points and shooting 34 percent on 3-pointers.

It marked his first season in Philadelphia, and given that House was barely a part of the rotation, avoiding free agency is a wise move. He appeared in seven playoff games, averaging 6.0 minutes.

That said, House could have a bigger role next season under new coach Nick Nurse, who tends to be big on using lots of wings. At least, Nurse was that way with the Raptors this past season.

The Sixers also stand a chance to lose guard James Harden in free agency, presumably creating minutes for House and others who can play in the backcourt.

House has also spent time with the Jazz, Knicks, Rockets and Wizards since entering the NBA in 2016, when he went undrafted out of Texas A&M.
