Phoenix Suns Player Fined $2,000 By NBA
USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday evening, the Phoenix Suns played their first game of the 2023-24 regular season against the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The Suns won by a score of 108-104, and they will play their next game on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers in California.

Following the game, the NBA announced that Josh Okogie ( Phoenix Suns) was fined $2,000 for flopping.

Via NBA Official: "PHX’s Josh Okogie was assessed a postgame Flopping fine of $2,000 upon league office review for https://nba.com/watch/video/phx-vs-gsw-10-24-23… on Oct. 24 vs. GSW."

Okogie finished his night with 17 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal (while shooting 7/9 from the field) in 32 minutes of playing time.

He was initially the 20th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Georgia Tech and has played five seasons in the league with the Minnesota Timberwolves (and Suns).

His career averages are 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 40.2% from the field in 317 regular season games (he has also appeared in 11 NBA playoff games).

Currently, Okogie is playing a key role for the Suns, who are seen as a contender to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

Last year, the Suns were the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 45-37 record.

They beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in five games) but lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round (in six games).
