Nuggets Signing Jay Huff to Two-Way Contract
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The reigning campion Nuggets intend to sign center Jay Huff to a two-way contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Huff, 24, is 7-foot-1 and has appeared in 11 games during his two-year career. He played seven with the Lakers as a rookie in 2021-22, then seven with the Wizards last season. In that time with the Wizards, he averaged 7.3 points and 3.0 rebounds.

He was also on a two-way contract with both LA and Washington, so this marks the third such deal of his career.

Most of his success as a pro has come in the G League, as Huff is the reigning G League Defensive Player of the Year. He was also named First Team All-G League.

While playing with the Capital City Go-Go and South Bay Lakers last season, he averaged 15.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and a whopping 3.1 blocks.

Teams are permitted to have three two-way players for the first time in 2023-24, up from two of previous years. The Nuggets also signed former Villanova point guard 6’3″ former Collin Gillespie to a two-way deal, so they still have a slot available.
