Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon suffered lacerations to his face and hand resulting from a dog bite on Christmas Day.

Gordon suffered serious dog bites to his face and right hand. The Nuggets star required 21 stitches, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, and there is no timetable for his return.

The Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors on Christmas by a final score of 120-114. Gordon played 31 minutes and finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one steal while shooting 7-of-10 from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc and 1-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Gordon is averaging 13.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists on the season for the Nuggets. The 28-year-old is shooting 52.5% overall, 25.0% from 3 and 60.6% from the foul line. Gordon is fourth on the Nuggets in points per game, third in rebounds per game and fourth in assists per game.

The Nuggets are 22-10 on the season. They are in second place in the Western Conference standings. Denver is looking to become the first team since the 2018 Warriors to repeat as NBA champions.

Gordon has career averages of 13.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists with the Orlando Magic and Nuggets. Denver acquired the Arizona product from Orlando in March 2021.

Gordon signed a four-year, $86.6 million extension with the Nuggets in September 2021. The San Jose native is making $21.3 million this season. Hopefully, the veteran will make a quick recovery.
