NBA to Stream Pro-Am, Drew League Summer Games

The NBA is increasing its broadcasts of Pro-Am basketball with plans to stream more than 200 games this summer from the Drew League, Miami Pro League, Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League, NYvsNY, and Jamal Crawford’s CrawsOver league in Seattle.

Games will live stream globally on the NBA App and NBA.com, starting with the Drew League in Los Angeles on July 1. Several NBA stars are expected to compete in the Pro-Am leagues, with free agent Kyrie Irving saying earlier this month that he’ll play in the Drew League. 

The NBA began streaming Drew League games last summer, with about 50 games on the league’s app. This summer’s iteration will stream at least 100 more games, including matchups from several other notable Pro-Am leagues. 

Last summer’s Drew League featured memorable performances from LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan. Last year’s Miami Pro League and Atlanta’s AEBL included Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Obi Toppin, Bam Adebayo, and Jose Alvarado.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and Knicks star Julius Randle attended this week’s tip-off of the NYvsNY Pro-Am in New York City. 

Crawford, a 20-year NBA veteran who retired in 2022, hosted his CrawsOver league at Seattle Pacific University last summer with star-studded games that featured James, Tatum, Chris Paul, Jordan Poole, Dejounte Murray, Isaiah Thomas, Aaron Gordon, Marjon Beauchamp, Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero.

As NBA stars flock to Seattle for CrawsOver, it can only fuel speculation of an NBA expansion team potentially returning to the Emerald City as the league will also host pre-season games in Seattle. 

“My choice would be Seattle, honestly,” free agent Brook Lopez said of his preferred next NBA team destination.
