NBA Props for Thursday Jan. 25: Let's keep rolling

Yesterday was a good day, posting a 3-1 record (enough said). We haven't had one of those in a while so no need to break it down further, although overtime in the Portland/Houston game couldn't have hurt us in the counting stats.

Tonight there are seven games on the NBA schedule. I am very interested in Denver's trip to New York even though the Knicks are shorthanded inside right now, and Sacramento is at Golden State. The last two times the Kings and Warriors met, the games were decided by just a point.

That's the team stuff, let's get into picking some individual prop winners.

Results to Date: 72-124, -223.2 Units  (points for honesty)

NBA Props for Thursday, Jan. 25

Pascal Siakam Over 6.5 Rebounds (+114)

Siakam has not made a major impact with Indiana yet, though the injury to Ty Haliburton certainly has not helped. This is right at his averages for the season (with both Indiana and Toronto) so getting that payoff level makes it a strong play. He also just posted 10 boards in his last game and appears to be getting a little more comfortable.

Tyrese Maxey Over 7.5 Assists (+120)

With Joel Embiid scoring like a maniac Maxey has been overlooked lately. That is a shame because he has been excellent, especially at distributing the ball. In six of his last nine games this would have cashed and with Embiid flamethrowing right now they do not need him to score as much as he did when these teams met back in November.

Nikola Jokic and Jalen Brunson Over 16.5 Assists (+105)

It will be interesting to see how the Knicks attempt to guard Jokic tonight. They are weak at the center position defensively due to injury so they have to decide if they want him to be more of a distributor or scorer and take their chances. Only once in the last 10 games has he had less than six assists and I think we can count on him to do more than his fair share. That means we need a little less from Brunson who has been on a scoring heater — five straight 30+ point games. He has had at least four assists in all of those.

Aaron Gordon Over 1.5 Steals and Blocks (+105)

Gordon is an underrated part of the Nuggets' success. He and KCP are elite defenders and I like that to be on display against a player like Julius Randle who can be turnover-prone. He has bested this total in each of the last couple of games and is going to be in the middle of the action against a New York team that is not as versatile on offense as they were before some recent injuries and trades.
