Mountain West Player of the Year Omari Moore signs Two-Way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks
USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Bucks injected some youth and athleticism into their aging roster with the addition of shooting guard Omari Moore. The team signed the reigning Mountain West Player of the Year to a Two-Way contract, which means he will split time between the Bucks and their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.

College standout

The 6-foot-6 wingman played for San Jose St. last season and put up impressive numbers of 17.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in 35 games. He was without question the Spartans’ go-to guy, as he scored over 20 points 13 times during the season, including a 33-point outburst on March 4th against Air Force.

He also earned First Team All-Mountain West honors after finishing with an honorable mention in his junior season. Omari finished his collegiate career fifth all-time in scoring for San Jose St. He’s also fifth in assists and fourth in steals and blocks.

Insurance plan

The Bucks don’t have much room for Moore at the moment, with a stacked guard rotation that already features Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton , and the up-and-coming MarJon Beauchamp. That said, if there’s one thing the Bucks love more than their current guard rotation, it’s insurance plans.

Moore will gain valuable experience and reps in the G League, which can bode well for his future in the NBA. If he can continue to develop and improve, who knows what kind of player he could become? For now, it’s best for him to stay patient and continue grinding away. He may just have a future in Milwaukee yet.
