Minnesota Timberwolves Owner Drops BIG Karl-Anthony Towns Injury Update Ahead of the 2024 NBA Playoffs
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

When Karl-Anthony Towns underwent surgery to repair the meniscus on his left knee two weeks ago, it was revealed that he was going to be re-evaluated for four weeks. Since the Minnesota Timberwolves’ regular season campaign ends on April 14, his timetable leaves a lot of uncertainty.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ return from his knee injury couldn’t come soon enough for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they plan to make a deep run in the 2023-24 NBA playoffs. Fortunately for the team, their owner Glen Taylor recently shared a positive update regarding the Dominican Republic international.

“Karl has indicated that he’s coming along really well and he’s ahead of schedule. I don’t know exactly what date that means, but it’s good news,” Taylor said about KAT via Darren Wolfson of SKOR North.

“Actually, we have a lot of guys who are really important to our team. But, Karl has certain skill sets that are just different than the other guys, and you want him to display that on the floor,” he added.

Karl-Anthony Towns gives the Minnesota Timberwolves a huge boost

Karl-Anthony Towns has already missed 10 games after he tore his meniscus earlier this month. During the said span, the Minnesota Timberwolves have admirably gone 7-3 en route to a 50-22 record at this time of writing, good for second in the Western Conference.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won games more than they should without KAT because Anthony Edwards has taken it upon himself to carry the team, posting norms of 26.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game in their last 10.

But make no mistake about it, Karl-Anthony Towns makes the Minnesota Timberwolves a much more dangerous team. Before going down with an injury, KAT averaged 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest, shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from three-point land.

With him being an additional floor-spacer because of his ability to shoot from deep, this opens up driving lanes for Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley and allows Rudy Gobert to dominate the paint, all of which are integral to Chris Finch’s offensive schemes.
