Maurice Harkless agrees to one-year, $3.6 million deal with Heat

NBA free agency is in full swing, and the defending Eastern Conference champions are adding some depth to their already talented roster.

The Miami Heat signed Maurice Harkless to a one-year, $3.6 million deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Harkless turned down "more lucrative deals" for a chance to play alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in Miami.

Harkless joined the New York Knicks last season in a three-team trade that sent Marcus Morris to the Los Angeles Clippers. He previously spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.

The 27-year-old averaged 5.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game last season between the Clippers and Knicks. He shot 50.2% from the field and 34.7% from beyond the arc.
