MarJon Beauchamp, Andre Jackson Jr. not expected to be made available by Bucks heading to trade deadline
USA TODAY Sports

Even though they have young pieces in MarJon Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr. who can be used significantly to make trades happen, the Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly not leaning toward dumping them in the market.

Per NBA analyst Jake Weinbach, both young guns aren’t expected to be made available by the team as the trade season looms.

Bucks’ twin wing prospects

MarJon, 23, is now in his sophomore year in the NBA. A product of G League Ignite, he is currently averaging 5.2 points, 2.5 boards, and 1.9 dimes — numbers that similarly reflect what he averaged last 2022-23.

On the other hand, the 22-year-old Ajax is the lone young prospect that the Bucks have gained before this season. The second-round rookie out of UConn appeared for 31 games with averages of 2.5 points and 1.7 boards per 10.3 minutes of play.

The duo has been the most coveted, young, and talented pieces on the Bucks, who provide serviceable production, effort, length, and defense off the bench. While they have yet to gain considerable exposure and touches, with the Bucks boasting a veteran-laden group, both MarJon and Ajax are still viewed as valuable pieces by the franchise in the long run.

Can the Bucks maintain their probable hesitancy?

The Bucks’ reported potential intent to keep both Beauchamp and Jackson Jr. out of the trade talks is reasonable. Both the youngsters provide reliable energy and service for the team while also giving that youthful presence to one of the oldest cores in the NBA this year.

But as it is, everything is possible. As Milwaukee still has glaring issues to address, like their defense, they might have to give up one or two of them to work out a trade to acquire a difference maker that can give them a massive bump toward their competitive stance. Considering that the team is already in an all-in mode to win since trading for Damian Lillard, it is difficult to rule out a possibility that both MarJon and Ajax would be safe from being dealt away as they provide value and potential.

For now, it remains to be seen what progress the Bucks will make or signal as the trade deadline for 2023-24 continues to loom.
