Los Angeles Clippers: Paul George’s 1 Major Regret Vs. Dallas Mavericks in the First Round, Revealed
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers suffered yet another early exit , as the Dallas Mavericks eliminated them in six games, and Paul George shared his take about where things went wrong.

In his recent Podcast P With Paul George episode, the 34-year-old swingman said the Los Angeles Clippers were sent home early because they tried to play “hero ball” too often.

“We should’ve played a lot quicker, we should’ve tried to get in transition more, after rebounds we should have tried to get out and run the lanes,” Paul George said. “We should’ve tried to play on the second side, forced the ball to reverse a couple times, where we could attack with our iso players.”

“But I thought we came down, and rightfully so it happens, you try to play hero ball, you try to make the big plays, you try to be the scorer and be dominant but you fail to realize sometimes you have to take what the defense gives you and it might not be your night, or it might be your night later in the game, opposed to try and will it to be your night, and I think we got in trouble with that,” he added.

The Los Angeles Clippers ran out of gas in Games 5 and 6

With the series knotted at 2-2, it was essentially a best-of-three series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks. However, LA lost Games 5 and 6 because Paul George and James Harden, in particular, had subpar outings.

After scoring 33 points apiece in Game 4, Paul George and James Harden failed to score at least 20 points in the next two games.

George only had 15 points in Game 5 on 4-of-13 shooting and 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting in Game 6, while Harden only recorded seven points on 2-of-12 shooting in Game 5 and 16 points on 5-of-16 shooting in Game 6.

And it didn’t help the Los Angeles Clippers that Kawhi Leonard never got fully healthy for the rest of the series after playing Games 2 and 3.

The Los Angeles Clippers are facing a big offseason ahead, as Paul George and James Harden will be free agents.
