Knicks Provide Brutal Update For Status Of OG Anunoby
Jaime Valdez-USA TODAY Sports

With OG Anunoby in the lineup, the New York Knicks have been the most dominant team in the NBA. They went 12-2 with him on the roster after acquiring him from the Toronto Raptors, but an elbow injury then sidelined him for multiple weeks.

His injury coincided with Julius Randle also being hurt, as the Knicks were dealt a brutal hand when it came to staying afloat in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. They both last played on January 27th, as New York went 8-10 without them in the lineup.

But, Anunoby was able to get back on the court on March 12th after an 18-game absence, against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks picked up right where they left off as the team has won three games in a row.

Unfortunately for the Knicks, their attempt at winning a fourth straight game will be without Anunoby in the lineup. As shared by Tommy Beer on X, Anunoby is going to miss Monday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors because of right elbow injury management.

The Knicks don’t play again until Thursday night against the Denver Nuggets, so this could be a strategic rest day for Anunoby. With their previous game being Saturday against the Sacramento Kings, Anunoby will have five days between appearances, giving him some more time to rest his elbow.

It has been great having Anunoby back in the lineup, as he has helped steady things on defense once again. But, his offensive performance has not been there, as he has made 3-of-13 3-point attempts and is shooting 12-of-30 overall in his three games since returning.

Despite the underwhelming offensive production, Anunoby’s presence has still been felt. He has recorded a positive plus/minus in all 17 of his games with the Knicks, as the team is 15-2 during that stretch.
