Jerry West Explains Why NBA Made His Profile The League Logo

Despite being one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game of basketball, be considered one of the godfathers of the NBA, and literally being named the logo of the league, Jerry West is one of the more reserved retired players despite still holding an executive position within the league. He helped take the Lakers to greatness as both a player and front office member and has done for other teams ever since

West almost worked his magic once again as he is currently an executive board member of the Los Angeles Clippers and a trade was all but set for them to part ways with Marcus Morris and bring in the reigning sixth man of the year in Malcolm Brogdon as part of three-team trade that has Kristaps Porzingis going to the Boston Celtics.

However, it was then found out that he had some serious health concerns so the deal fell apart. But when you look at all the names that West has helped bring to the franchise since he arrived in 2017 such as Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Robert Covington, Norman Powell, Russell Westbrook and more... his recruiting skills are pretty impressive.

And West made a rare appearance on an actual talking show recently when he joined Paul George's own 'Podcast P' and revealed some of the backstory as to how he became the official logo of the NBA.

"There were five guys, no one knew who they were," said West. "They were all silhouettes. The guy who said it would fit better on the apparel and stuff, that's who did it."

West also spoke on how he likes to keep to himself and why he hasn't pushed for his share of revenue off of the logo.

"I'm just different, I don't like publicity," said West. "If people respect me for some of the things that happened in my life because of sports, that's fine."

There you have it, folks. Mr.Clutch became the logo due to one person believing his design was the way to go. We appreciate everything that he has done for the NBA!
