Heat Break Losing Streak Using 108-95 Win Over Pistons

Adebayo’s efficiency on the court was undeniable. He scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just 29 minutes, not even needing to play in the fourth quarter as the Heat comfortably maintained their lead. His efforts were complemented by Caleb Martin and Terry Rozier, who each contributed 18 points.

The Pistons, aspiring for their first three-game winning streak since the 2021-22 season, were hampered by 18 turnovers that Miami converted into 33 points. This aspect of the game proved to be a significant hurdle for Detroit.

“That’s a huge part of (the game), just because giving up that many points is demoralizing,” Pistons coach Monty Williams said. “We had some really tough offensive possessions where we weren’t organized. That was responsible for some of the turnovers.”

Simone Fontecchio stepped up for the Pistons with 24 points, while Jalen Duren made a notable contribution with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Fontecchio, feeling comfortable with his team, highlighted the ease of playing alongside his teammates, especially Cade Cunningham.

“It’s easy for me to play with this group,” Fontecchio said. “They make everything easier for me, especially playing with Cade (Cunningham).”

Cunningham, despite a sore knee, managed 11 points, nine rebounds, and six assists over 31 minutes. The two teams are scheduled for a rematch on Sunday afternoon in Detroit.

The Heat demonstrated a turning point early in the third quarter, extending their lead with an 8-2 run, largely due to Detroit’s turnovers.

“When you give up 33 points off turnovers, and you’re not making a lot of shots, it becomes very difficult,” Fontecchio remarked on the challenge.

Miami struggled initially with three-point shooting, missing 17 of its first 20 attempts. However, Duncan Robinson‘s three consecutive three-pointers in the third quarter ignited the Heat’s offense, expanding their lead significantly.

“He’s as ignitable as anyone in the league,” Spoelstra commented on Robinson’s performance. “The first one was at the clock and probably one of the tougher ones he’s hit in the last few games. When he hits one of those, it can become an avalanche.”

Entering the fourth quarter with a comfortable lead, the Heat were able to rest Adebayo, relying on Thomas Bryant, who scored 11 points in the final quarter, to maintain their advantage. Adebayo and Fontecchio were key players in the first half, scoring 16 points each, while Duren also made a significant impact with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

As both teams prepare for their upcoming rematch, the Heat look to build on their regained momentum, while the Pistons aim to address their mistakes and come back stronger.
