The Hawks are signing veteran guard/forward Wesley Matthews to a one-year contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Matthews, 36, appeared in 52 games with the Bucks last season, averaging 3.4 points in limited action. He has spent each of the past two years with Milwaukee.
Before that, he spent time with the Jazz, Trail Blazers, Mavericks, Knicks, Pacers and Lakers from 2009-21, offering perimeter shooting, generally in reserve. A first stint with the Bucks was in there, too (2019-20).
Matthews joins guard Patty Mills as veteran additions who are expected veteran outside shooting off Atlanta’s bench. That said, as of Friday morning, the Hawks had 17 players on standard contracts, which means more moves will have to take place before the season.
Free agent G Wesley Matthews has agreed on a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks, sources tell ESPN. Matthews, 36, joins the Hawks after two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.
