Rudy Gay is coming off a year where he played 56 regular season games for the Utah Jazz

The 37-year-old averaged 5.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 38.0% from the field.

This summer, he signed a deal with the Golden State Warriors, but Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic have now reported that Gay will be released.

Via Charania : "The Golden State Warriors are releasing Rudy Gay and Rodney McGruder, sources tell me and  @anthonyVslater. This trims Warriors’ standard deals to 13 players, giving extra roster/financial flexibility, and they will add the 14th spot within first two weeks of season."

In addition to the Jazz, Gay has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings.

Over 17 seasons in the NBA, he has career averages of 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 45.2% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range.

The former UConn star has also played in 19 NBA playoff games with the Grizzlies and Spurs.

Now that Gay will be a free agent again, he will be a name to watch, as he could be a good addition to many teams.
