For all of the talk in the preseason about the improvements made across the West Coast Conference, it hasn't quite shown in nonconference play.

The league as a whole has struggled to take care of business, which has become evident through the first NCAA Evaluation Tool Rankings of the 2023-24 season. While the algorithm is unclear, the NET has become a primary tool used by the NCAA Tournament selection committee when seeding teams for the postseason. Quality of wins is broken down into four quadrants, and based on how the WCC has performed thus far, there might not be many opportunities for Gonzaga to pick up meaningful victories in January and February.

That won't be beneficial come March, though on the flip side, perhaps there's a chance for the Bulldogs to capitalize by running the table through league play. Former Gonzaga All-American Dan Dickau breaks down both viewpoints in his reaction to the NET Rankings on a new episode of Gonzaga Nation.
