Dalano Banton Takes Meeting with Boston Celtics, per Report
USA TODAY Sports

Dalano Banton might be on the move.

The former Toronto Raptors guard has reportedly taken a meeting with the Boston Celtics on Friday evening, according to Rafael Barlowe. Toronto had declined to extend him a qualifying offer Thursday night allowing him to hit unrestricted free agency. Had they extended him the offer he would have been a restricted free agent, allowing Toronto the ability to match any offers he received.

Banton played in just 31 games for the Raptors last season, averaging 4.6 points on 42.3% shooting. After being a pleasant surprise for Toronto as a rookie, he failed to make much of an impact for Toronto as a sophomore and spent much of the season with the Raptors 905.

Toronto selected Banton with the 46th pick in the in the 2021 NBA Draft. He was selected one pick ahead of David Johnson who Toronto parted ways with following his rookie season.

The Celtics had previously signed fellow 2021 classmate of the Raptors Justin Champagnie who was waived by Toronto following training camp this past season.
