Chicago Bulls TV Broadcast Falls For Fake Derrick Rose Retirement Post

On Saturday evening, the Chicago Bulls are hosting the Washington Wizards at the United Center. 

Before the game, there was a fake post that went viral on X, which stated that Derrick Rose (who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies) was retiring. 

Rose is not retiring, and the post was from a parody account.  

However, the Bulls television broadcast thought the report was accurate and spoke about it on the air. 

Via Awful Announcing: "Welp. The Bulls broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago fell for a fake Adrian Wojnarowski tweet that Derrick Rose has retired. 

Stacey King and Adam Amin on the call. ️ "

Rose was the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of Memphis and is in his 15th season playing in the league.

He spent the first seven seasons of his career playing for the Bulls and won the 2011 MVP Award.

Unfortunately, the three-time NBA All-Star dealt with injuries, but he was able to become a serviceable role player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons (following the Bulls).

He is currently averaging 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.1% from the field and 36.6% from three three-point range in 24 games for the Grizzlies. 

They have had a tough season and are the 13th seed in the Western Conference with a 23-44 record in 67 games, but the 35-year-old is still a reliable backup point guard. 

Later in the broadcast, the announcers realized they had been tricked (h/t Kenny Beecham).
