Earlier this week, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff had an update for reporters on Ty Jerome's status surrounding his sprained right ankle.

"He is just recovering. They're doing different steps with him and trying some new things, different things in order to help him," Bickerstaff said Tuesday before Cleveland's blowout NBA In-Season Tournament win over the Atlanta Hawks.

"So he's doing another treatment now and I'll let (Cavs VP of basketball communications) BJ [Evans] and the medical staff talk about timeline when they put all that together. But he's trying something different than just the normal rehab to try to get him back and get him back healthy."

Jerome has been out of action since the second game of the season, which was the Cavs' home opener vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. He turned his ankle the wrong way when he landed on somebody's foot. That took place all the way back on Oct. 27.

The severity of an ankle sprain can vary, and Jerome was wearing a walking boot for the majority of November. Since he's going with an alternate route during his rehab process, it might've been worse than he and the Cavs initially thought.

Although the guard room is stacked with Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Caris LeVert and Craig Porter Jr. as it is, the 6-foot-5 Jerome would be a welcome addition to the Cavs rotation just for the sake of options.

Bickerstaff spoke glowingly of Jerome's capabilities during training camp, mentioning his basketball IQ, two-way talents and shooting ability to help the team's offense.
