Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley quickly defended his head coach, Doc Rivers, on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after ESPN analyst JJ Redick slammed the 62-year-old during Tuesday's episode of "First Take."
This Man Doc actually saved your career. Started you when no one else wanted 2. And u retire go on TV and say that. @jj_redick

Redick quickly shot back at Beverley.
Pat my guy I had a four year offer with player option for the same money to be a starter for a different team. FOH “saved my career”. https://t.co/5lXowm2j8e

Beverley is in his second stint playing under Rivers, after suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers for the coach's final three seasons in the City of Angels from 2017-20. Redick played for Rivers with the Clippers for four years from 2013-17, missing out on being Beverley's teammate by just a few months.
Redick, who is also set to replace Rivers on ESPN and ABC's coverage of the NBA Finals later in the year, said Tuesday that his former coach had a longstanding "trend" of "making excuses" and showing a lack of "accountability."
This came in the wake of Rivers' comments last week, revealing that he'd initially requested to start as Milwaukee's coach during the All-Star break in hopes of a "nicer" transition. The team, however, wanted him to start immediately.
The one-time Coach of the Year was brought in as the Bucks new leader in late January, replacing first-year head coach Adrian Griffin.
Milwaukee went 3-7 leading into the All-Star break under Rivers and are now in third place, sitting 8.5 games behind the conference-leading Boston Celtics.
Beverley signed with the Philadelphia 76ers last July, less than two months after the team fired Rivers. The defensive menace was traded to the Bucks hours before the trade deadline on Feb. 8.
