This morning, Bellator returns to Dublin, Ireland, with a main event title fight between Bellator Middleweight Champion Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards. The matchup will be Eblen's second title defense.
The reigning champ hopes to keep his title and undefeated record intact with a win over Edwards. His last victory was over Anatoly Tokov by unanimous decision at Bellator 290 on Feb. 4. While Eblen has been a dominant titleholder, he will face a motivated Edwards who wants to take the title from "The Human Cheat Code" and hand him his first loss in the process.
The challenger comes into his matchup on a three-fight win streak. His last triumph was against Gegard Mousasi by unanimous decision at Bellator 296 on May 12, which showed that he could potentially threaten the champion.
That said, the betting odds are leaning towards Eblen as a -500 favorite, according to DraftKings.
Elsewhere, Aaron Pico will take on Pedro Carvalho in a featherweight bout in the co-main event. Pico is coming into the fight off a unanimous decision win against James Gonzalez at Bellator 295 on April 22. Ranked third in the division, Pico is possibly one fight away from being the next featherweight title contender. However, Carvalho is not someone to be overlooked despite the DraftKings betting odds having him as a +700 underdog.
Bellator 299: Eblen vs. Edwards will occur at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, on Sep. 23. The main card will air live on Showtime at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT, with the preliminary card kicking off the event at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT on Bellator's YouTube Channel.
