With the Philadelphia 76ers dealing with multiple injuries, Nick Nurse has had to go deep into his bench. Among those to see action against the Brooklyn Nets Saturday night was two-way guard Terquavion Smith

As the game got out of reach in the fourth quarter, Nurse allowed the young prospect to see some in-game action. Smith made the most of this opportunity as he quickly caught fire offensively. In just nine minutes of action, he nailed five triples en route to notching 17 points.

Despite getting the least amount of playing time for the Sixers, Smith finished as the team's second-leading scorer Saturday. Only Tyrese Maxey (23 points) finished with more than him.

Following this shocking offensive explosion, Smith has etched his name in the history books. He became just the sixth player ever to score at least 17 points in nine or fewer minutes. The most recent player to do so before Smith was Matt Thomas in 2021.

Smith also worked his way into Sixers history as well. He is the first rookie to hit at least five threes in a game since Matisse Thybulle did it back in 2019.

Saturday marked only the sixth time Smith has appeared in a game for the Sixers. He scored his first career points in a win over the Orlando Magic back in January. In a similar kind of situation, he entered the game late and quickly caught fire from beyond the arc. The 21-year-old has attempted 16 threes this season and has converted eight of them.

When Smith isn't with the Sixers, he is leading the charge in the G-League for the Delaware Blue Coats. So far this season, his averages sit at 21.3 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 2.8 APG.
