Sean O'Malley Reveals Why Islam Makhachev Is The UFC Fighter He Is Most In Awe Of: 'I Had A Nightmare That I Had To Fight Him!'
Craig Kidwell-USA TODAY Sports

Sean O'Malley recently revealed himself to be among the many intimidated by Islam Makhachev's well-rounded fighting capabilities.

The UFC Bantamweight Champion is currently preparing for his long-awaited rematch with Marlon "Chito" Vera. "Chito" is the sole blemish on O'Malley's record, having TKO'd him all the way back at UFC 252.

Now, with his 135lbs gold on the line for the first time, "Suga" has the chance to even the score in the main-event of UFC 299.

"Islam's Probably Like That Next F***ing Level" - Sean O'Malley

During a recent episode of the TimboSugarShow, "Suga" was asked by comedic actor Bryan Callen if there are any fighters in particular that he is especially impressed by. O'Malley was quick to highlight UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev, even admitting to having a bad dream about fighting him.

Despite acknowledging it was a nightmare, O'Malley joked that he'd knock the Dagestani star out.

"I'd say Islam, Islam's so f***ing scary," O'Malley said. "I had a nightmare that I had to fight him, I woke up and I was- 'Oh God, thanks God that wasn't real 'cause I'd knock that motherf***er out!'"

Regardless of the knockout comment, O'Malley admitted to being relieved upon waking up.

"No, I actually woke up and was like 'Oh f**k that,'" O'Malley said. "I thought I was going to walk out and fight Islam."

When it comes to why he has such a high opinion of the 155lbs kingpin, "Sugar" explained that he's especially impressed by how complete Makhachev is in the cage. A master wrestler and combat sambo combatant, Makhachev has also revealed immense power and skill in his punches and kicks, making him one of the most all-round skilled fighters in the world right now.

"He's so well-rounded, he's skilled as f**k," O'Malley opined. "I'd say Islam's probably like that next f***ing level."
