Paul Felder Reveals Whether UFC 300 Comeback Against Jim Miller Is Possible

It appears that former ranked UFC lightweight contender Paul Felder could be on the comeback trail once again.

Felder called time on his career months after a short-notice defeat at welterweight against Rafael dos Anjos in November 2020. "The Irish Dragon" concluded a 15-fight Octagon tenure that spanned six years.

In recent times, though, the 39-year-old has admitted that a return has been on his mind. That talk picked up in 2023, with Felder even making an official return to the USADA testing pool.

Although his motivation for another walk to the cage appeared to dim, veteran lightweight Jim Miller seemingly brought it back last week when he called for a UFC 300 showdown with Felder on April 13.

Felder 'Leaning Toward' UFC 300 Return After Miller Callout

During a guest appearance at this past weekend's UFC Fight Night post-fight press conference, Felder responded to Miller's callout and revealed whether a return to action is on the cards.

"The Irish Dragon" admitted that he'd previously drifted away from a desire to throw down one last time. But with the prospect of sharing the Octagon with the UFC's all-time leader for wins at a historic event emerging, it seems that Felder could be persuaded.

"If I'm gonna do it, I want it to be against a guy like Jim, somebody that's around my age, that's been in the game for a long time," Felder said. "I go back and forth, as any athlete does, between feeling inspired and in the gym one day... Recently, I've been back on the triathlon kick and was like, 'I don't know if I wanna come back anymore.' And when we talked to Jim in the fighter meetings, obviously the people around me are kind of egging me on and pushing it. I was like, 'If you call me out, Jim, it's something I'd be interested in doing.'

"I've gotta get back in the gym and see how things feel," Felder continued. "It's also up to the UFC, too, right? I obviously haven't pressed the issue... I gotta see, are they even interested in that fight happening? But to do it on a legendary card like that would be incredible. I've gotta talk to my wife too... It's definitely a possibility... (I'm) leaning toward wanting to do it."

Miller had Felder's name on his lips after another impressive showing this past Saturday night. At the first UFC event of 2024, "A-10" submitted fellow vet Gabriel Benitez in the third round.

In addition to "The Irish Dragon," Miller also named Matt Brown as a desirable option for his long-planned UFC 300 appearance. And with the welterweight knockout artist already giving the green light, the clock might be ticking on Felder's answer.
