Nathaniel Wood Reveals Broken Orbital From Last UFC Fight In London
Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

UFC featherweight Nathaniel Wood suffered a nasty facial injury in his unanimous decision win over Andre Fili.

Wood defeated Fili by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Aspinall vs. Tybura in July. He has now won three straight fights after making the full-time move from bantamweight to featherweight.

Wood and Fili put on a 'Fight of the Night' candidate in their three-round matchup. The two traded heavy blows on the feet in what ended up being a torrid pace between the two sides.

While he walked away from the Octagon with his hand raised, Wood paid a steep price for victory against Fili.

Nathaniel Wood Sidelined For At Least Six Weeks With Broken Orbital

In a recent tweet, Wood shared the news of a serious injury he suffered at UFC Fight Night: Aspinall vs. Tybura.

"For the record I fractured my orbital in the fight, 6 weeks no contact and we’re good to go," Wood tweeted. "And yes I sleep like that."

Wood is one of the top UFC prospects with wins over the likes of Andre Ewell, Charles Jourdain, and Charles Rosa. He withdrew from his previously scheduled fight against Lerone Murphy earlier this year with a nasty leg injury.

Wood is known to put himself in the pocket of his opponents and force high-paced action in the Octagon. His recent wins over Jourdan and Rosa featured wild moments throughout the fights.

Wood's style could carry him towards future title contention, although for now, he's suffering from the consequences of war in the cage.
