Danny Roberts, Shavkat Rakhmonov pull out of July 25 UFC Fight Island show

A pair of competitors reportedly won't be making the journey to the UFC Fight Island for the promotion's July 25 show headlined by Darren Till versus Robert Whittaker.

On Thursday, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie wrote that welterweights Danny Roberts and Shavkat Rakhmonov have withdrawn from the event held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Hannoun added it's not yet known why both are off the card or if the UFC will find replacements for their matches. Sherdog's Jay Pettry also reported the stories.

Roberts, who was to battle Nicolas Dalby (18-3-1), holds a 17-5 professional record and hasn't competed in the UFC since last November. Rakhmonov, a perfect 12-0 as a pro, was scheduled to make his UFC debut and open the preliminaries versus Ramazan Emeev (18-4).

Per MMA Fighting, Rakhmonov was set to compete in his first UFC bout on March 21 before that show was canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
