UFC superstar Conor McGregor aims to headline two mega cards for his planned Octagon comeback in 2024.

After a lengthy absence, fans, pundits, and fighters continue to wait for McGregor's planned return to the cage. The former two-division UFC champion hasn't fought since shattering his leg against Dustin Poirier in their UFC 264 trilogy.

McGregor is expected to face Michael Chandler for his return fight after the two clashed as coaches on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter. It was expected that the two men would fight immediately after the season, but as of this writing, nothing has been formally booked.

Suppose McGregor remains transfixed on a return to the Octagon. In that case, he not only wants to make the Chandler fight happen finally but also bring finality to his rivalry with Nate Diaz.

Conor McGregor Admits 'Lack Of Enthusiasm' Impacting Return Timeline

After one Instagram follower brought up the Diaz trilogy, McGregor revealed his plans to make the Chandler and Diaz fights happen this year.

"I wish for this on Mexican Independence Day in the sphere," McGregor replied. "Chandler June. Diaz September. I have let this be known."

While McGregor appeared intent on booking two fights in three months, he admitted that it isn't a certain thing, and expressed frustration with the UFC's handling of his hiatus.

"Still holding hope for June 29th. Lack of action on it however is now causing lack of enthusiasm," McGregor answered. "I need a decision soon. I am the most tested athlete under this new regime. Yet no date to fight. The game is a bit lackluster also at present which isn't helping. I hope these next few cards pop and I get a date. Eliminate distractions and begin real work towards it."

Luckily for McGregor, Diaz has expressed mutual interest in headlining UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere in September. Diaz hasn't fought in MMA since parting ways with the UFC after a win over Tony Ferguson in 2022.

McGregor lost to Diaz at UFC 196 before exacting his revenge in their rematch at UFC 202. A trilogy would likely be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.

Despite the long wait for McGregor, Chandler remains intent on fighting the Irish star for his next UFC appearance. He hasn't fought since a loss to Poirier at UFC 281.

As we continue to await McGregor's return to the Octagon, we could be in for an exciting 2024, featuring two big-name fights to welcome back the Irishman to the cage.
