Ariel Helwani Claps Back At People Weighing In On His Heated Argument With Chael Sonnen: 'Mind Your Business!'
USA TODAY Sports

Renowned MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has shed some light on his recent, unexpected beef with Chael Sonnen.

Earlier this month, an appearance from 'The American Gangster' on The MMA Hour broke down into a heated shouting bout between him and Helwani. The argument kicked off during a discussion on Francis Ngannou's controversial loss to WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury

From Helwani calling 'The Bad Guy' a liar to Sonnen threatening to strangle him, the unexpectedly aggressive interaction turned plenty of heads.

Now, Helwani has shed some light on the dispute and whether or not he and Sonnen are still butting heads.

"I Thought It Was Funny" - Ariel Helwani On The Chael Sonnen Situation

During a recent appearance on the TimboSugarShow with UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O'Malley, Helwani discussed his dynamic with Sonnen. He revealed after a text from Sonnen he called him to patch things up.

"Chael, my good friend, he texted me right while I was doing the show, legit five minutes later, so you know my show is quite long, he was sort of in the middle," Helwani said. "And then he wrote me something like 'This is the awkward part where we wait to see who texts who first'. I'll start, and I sent him a picture while I was on the air with a thumbs up and then we went back and forth and then I called him on the following day... I called him to clear the air because I thought it was funny."

Helwani went on to highlight that he and the legendary trash talker have been pals for years. Unimpressed by people outside of their situation weighing in on the matter, Helwani humorously suggested everyone needs to mind their business.

"Two longtime friends, like we are longtime friends, and we have done this before," Helwani explained. "I will say we went maybe a little bit too far on that one... So I see all these guys weighing in on the way we were, you know, talking and all this stuff, like yo, mind your business!."
