Yankees' offensive woes continue in Game 2 ALCS loss to Astros

For the second day in a row, the Houston Astros kept the New York Yankees' bats quiet, holding on for a 3-2 victory in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Thursday

So far, the story of the ALCS has been the lack of pop from the Yankees' lineup. Well, the trend continued in Game 2.

Houston starter Framber Valdez dazzled through seven innings, holding the Yankees to only two runs on four hits to earn the win on the mound.

New York's luck didn't change after Valdez left the game. Bryan Abreu entered in the eighth, pitching a scoreless inning before Ryan Pressly closed the door in the ninth, registering all three outs by strikeout.

While the Yankees' offense struggled, one swing of the bat was all the Astros needed to take Game 2.

In the bottom of the third inning, third baseman Alex Bregman took Yankees' starter Luis Severino deep, smashing a three-run shot into the Crawford Boxes at Minute Maid Park.

Bregman's long ball put the Astros up 3-0, a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

With the victory, the Astros now own a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series as the ALCS shifts to New York for the next three games. After holding the Yankees to just four runs and nine hits during the ALCS, the Astros are now only two wins away from advancing to the World Series.

The ALCS continues on Saturday at Yankee Stadium for Game 3 at 5:07 p.m.
