Yankees' Jonathan Loaisiga Headed for Testing on Elbow

They will hope for the best.

Yankees reliever Jonathan Loaisiga is headed for testing on his elbow after experiencing soreness while throwing during his rehab program, per manager Aaron Boone.

Loaisiga has been on the IL since April 8, and had begun throwing on flat ground. However, he is now shut down from throwing after his latest discomfort. 

Loaisiga allowed one run in 3.1 innings this season before landing on the IL.

The right-hander posted a 4.13 ERA in 48 innings last season. In 2021, he dominated with a 2.17 ERA in 70.2 innings. 

Righty Luis Severino (lat strain) threw a 40-pitch live batting practice session, as he gets closer to a rehab assignment. 

Lefty Carlos Rodon (back) threw a 22-pitch bullpen session on Friday and is also progressing well. Rodon has healed from his forearm strain, but a back issue slowed down his rehab.
